The US Environmental Protection Agency, otherwise known as EPA, is a United States federal agency that primarily looks after general human and environment health, thereby writing and enforcing rules and regulations based on the laws passed by the US Congress.

The agency concentrates mainly on environmental assessment and research. Furthermore, the department is also known for taking part in a wide variety of voluntary pollution prevention programs and energy conservation efforts.

The EPA is also a part of the P3-People, which stands for Prosperity and the Planet Award Program, has recently established a program entitled, A National Student Design Competition for Sustainability Focusing on People, Prosperity and the Planet for the 9th Annual P3 Awards.

The National Student Design Competition for Sustainability Focusing on People, Prosperity and the Planet program revolves around the notion of seeking applications and proposals that aim to conduct research studies, develop and design strategies that would address real world challenges throughout the overall sustainability of human society.

In addition, the project also aims to highlight the use of scientific principles in the process of creating innovative projects that are largely focused on human sustainability.
