The National Institutes of Health, more commonly referred to as NIH, is a federal government agency operating within the United States Department of Health and Human Services that is specifically designed to support and encourage the country's health-related and biomedical research studies.

The grants and initiatives of the NIH are all geared towards the achievement of its overall agency mission which is to "seek fundamental knowledge about the nature and behavior of living systems and the application of that knowledge to enhance health, lengthen life, and reduce the burdens of illness and disability."

In line with this mission, the National Institutes of Health has recently formed a partnership with the The Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) to establish the Academic-Community Partnership Conference Series Program wherein both agencies seek to solicit grant application that intend to conduct health disparities-related meetings, workshops, symposiums.

Essentially, the program wills to bring together various academic institutions and community organizations in order to work towards the identification of opportunities for addressing various health disparities through the use of Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR).

With that, the program revolves around the following objectives:
