The program is set to provide financial assistance to these junior researchers in the process of conducting research studies and deepening their knowledge in cancer education by providing them with salaries and research support funds for a period that would for three to five years.

Within the set period of time, the junior researchers are expected to develop and hone their research, teaching and leadership skills.

The National Institutes of Health and the National Cancer Institute is set to grant multiple awards with an individual funding budget in the amount of $30,000 per year.

The individuals that are eligible to submit an application under this program should represent the following institutions and organizations:

a) Higher Education Institutions such as Public/State Controlled Institutions of Higher Education and Private Institutions of Higher Education

b) Hispanic-serving Institutions, Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Tribally Controlled Colleges and Universities (TCCUs), Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian Serving Institutions

c) Nonprofit organizations other than institutions of higher education

d) For-Profit Organizations such as Small Businesses

e) State Governments, County Governments, City or Township Governments, Special District Governments, Indian/Native American Tribal Governments (Federally Recognized), and Indian/Native American Tribal Governments (Other than Federally Recognized)

f) Independent School Districts, Public Housing Authorities/Indian Housing Authorities, Native American Tribal Organizations (other than Federally recognized tribal governments), Faith-based or Community-based Organizations, and Regional Organizations.

The National Institutes of Health has recently established a program entitled Improving Adherence to Treatment Regimens for HIV-Positive Adolescents and Young Adults wherein they intend to kick-off research studies that will create, implement, and evaluate both old and new interventions that are geared towards improving adherence to medical and behavioral regimens for HIV-positive adolescents which are 11 to 21 years old and adults who are 21 to 24 years old.
