The United States Department of Housing and Urban Development, otherwise known as HUD, is a Cabinet department in the Executive branch of the US federal government.

In addition, the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development has consistently been working towards strengthening the nation's housing market to boost the economy and at the same time protect the consumers ever since its establishment in the 1960s.

In line with the agency's objectives, the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Public and Indian Housing within the Department of Housing and Urban Development, has recently established a funding opportunity entitled Community Development Block Grant Program for Indian Tribes and Alaska Native Villages (ICDBG).

The Community Development Block Grant Program for Indian Tribes and Alaska Native Villages revolves around the notion of developing viable Indian and Alaska Native communities which includes the building of decent housing programs, sustainable living environments, and economic opportunities for all, with priority to low and moderate-income families.
