c) Forums that enhance knowledge, prominence and leadership of earthquake hazards reduction science and technology

d) Advocacy of earthquake mitigation to the professional community and the public

e) Workshops and training sessions that increase recognition of National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program(NEHRP) and foster an understanding of the program's purpose and activities

f) Production and dissemination of publications and other audio/visual materials that support the professional growth of individuals who will contribute to the vitality and strength of NEHRP

g) Promotion of better building practices within the building design and construction industry

h) Assist with minimizing the suffering and disruption caused by earthquake disasters through the products produced by and through access to the extensive and diverse expertise of the EERI membership.

The FEMA will award an estimated funding amount of $355,000 to the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute.

This cooperative agreement is solely exclusive to the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute.

The Earthquake Hazards Reduction Act of 1977, directs the FEMA to establish grants and assistance that would help States in the development of mitigation, preparedness and response plans, increase earthquake awareness and education, and finally encourage the development of multi-State groups for such purposes.

The Department of Homeland Security is a Cabinet department of the United States federal government. Its primary responsibilities include reducing the country's vulnerability to terrorist attacks, minimizing the damage from possible man-made attacks and natural disasters.
