Ethical Schools Project in Peru

The United States Agency for International Development(USAID) is the United States federal government principal agency responsible for administering civilian foreign aid. USAID holds offices in several countries worldwide.

One of this offices, is the USAID's Peru headquarters. USAID Peru has established a lot of programs that are all aimed towards assisting the Peruvian people, such as programs in health, democracy, environment, economic growth and education.

The USAID Peru office education programs are concentrated at national, regional and local levels in order to enhance the quality of education in public schools.

In line with this objectives, USAID Peru has recently established an education program entitled Ethical Schools Project.

The Ethical Schools Project revolves around the notion of promoting a culture of ethical behavior and civic responsibility among members of the youth, as well as teachers and parents. The project also aims to explore ways that would contribute to a reduction in corruption and other forms of illicit activities such as cocoa cultivation and illegal environmental degradation, which are both common practices in Peru.
