For this reason, the US government gives great importance to the field of humanities. In fact, it has supported and empowered it by establishing a slew of agencies that are primarily tasked to attend to humanities-related concerns.

First up, is the National Endowment for the Humanities, otherwise referred to as the NEH. Established in the year 1965 under the National Foundation on the Arts and the Humanities Act, the agency is generally dedicated to supporting research, education, preservation, and public programs in the humanities.
It seeks to accomplish its mission by administrating several initiatives and establishing grant programs such as the Sustaining Cultural Heritage Collections Program, which seeks to assist cultural institutions meet the complicated challenge of preserving massive holdings of humanities materials for future generations by supporting preventive conservation measures that reduce deterioration and lengthen the useful life of collections.
On the other hand of the circle is the National Archives and Records Administration, more commonly known as the NARA. The NARA is an independent agency of the United States government that is responsible for preserving and documenting government and historical records including the National Archives.
Meanwhile, there also exists the National Park Services (NPS) which manages all of the country's national parks, many national monuments, and other conservation and historical properties with various title designations.
The mission of the NPS is to "preserve the natural and cultural resources and values of the national park system for the enjoyment, education, and inspiration of this and future generations."
