In the fiscal year 1903, the United States Government created the Department of Commerce, also known as DOC.

The Department of Commerce was initially created to manage and regulate the country's economy. The mission of the DOC is to "promote job creation and improved living standards for all Americans by creating an infrastructure that promotes economic growth, technological competitiveness, and sustainable development."

In line with this mission, the Department of Commerce has been running grant programs that will eventually help them achieve their goals and objectives, and at the same time assist the public in their business and non-business related endeavors.
