The Bureau of Land Management, otherwise known as BLM, is a federal government agency operating within the United States Department of the Interior that is primarily responsible for administering the country's public lands.

The programs and grants of the BLM are all geared towards the realization of its overall agency mission which is to "sustain the health, diversity and productivity of the public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations."
In line with this mission, the Bureau of Land Management has recently developed the Invasive Aquatic Species Inventory and Infestation Prevention Program wherein they aim to document and monitor the presence of Zebra and Quagga mussels in the bodies of water through Idaho.
Zebra and Quagga mussels have recently been found in the waters of Utah, Nevada, California, Arizona, and Colorado. The presence of these mussels is thought to be greatly harmful and highly injurious to the ecosystem.
