Jail Resource Management: Review and Revision Program

by:

The Federal Bureau of Prisons, more commonly referred to as BOP, is a federal law enforcement agency operating within the United States Department of Justice that is primarily accountable for the administration of the nation's federal prison system.

The grants and programs of the BOP are all geared towards the achievement of its general agency mission which is to "protect society by confining offenders in the controlled environments of prisons and community-based facilities that are safe, humane, cost-efficient, and appropriately secure, and that provide work and other self-improvement opportunities to assist offenders in becoming law-abiding citizens."

In keeping with this mission, the Federal Bureau of Prisons has recently constituted the development of the Jail Resource Management: Review and Revision Program wherein it intends to solicit applications for the revision of its existing Jail Resource Management Training Program.

The existing Jail Resource Management Program is usually attended by sheriffs and several other jail administrators. The program offers a 3-day training course that mainly concentrates on the resource needs of a jail, including the development and presentation of a budget request, the determination of alternative funding options, and the management of a jail's budget.
