The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is a the US government's primary scientific agency responsible for dealing with the conditions of the oceans and the atmosphere.

NOAA's work is designed to achieve its department's mission, which is "to understand and predict changes in the Earth's environment and conserve and manage coastal and marine resources to meet our nation's economic, social, and environmental needs."

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, operating under the United States Department of Commerce, has recently announced a funding opportunity amounting to $1,690,000 to support the National Estuarine Research Reserve System (NERRS) Land Acquisition and Construction Program.

The NERRS Land Acquisition and Construction Program revolves around the premise of providing funding to research agencies to be used in the acquisition of addition properties of interest and construction projects that will help strengthen the protection towards reserve key land and water areas; at the same time improving long-term protection of the areas utilized for research and education; and lastly, providing for facility and exhibit construction.
