National Institute of Food and Agriculture: Community Food Projects Competitive Grants Program

The National Institute of Food and Agriculture, otherwise known as NIFA, is a department operated within the Department of Agriculture which was created under the mandate of the Food, Conservation, and Energy Act (FCEA) of 2008.

The NIFA has been constantly working as a catalyst to stimulate and fund research studies and technological innovations that will improve the processes involved in American agriculture leading to a more productive and environmentally sustainable system.

In line with this, the NIFA has recently constituted the Community Food Projects Competitive Grants Program (CFPCGP) wherein they plan to administer grants amounting to $5,000,000 to be utilized in funding the project.

The Community Food Projects Competitive Grants Program (CFPCGP) is designed to:

a) Meet the food needs of low-income households

b) Increase the self-reliance of communities in meeting their food needs

c) Promote comprehensive responses to local food, farm, and nutrition issues
