This is done in an attempt to develop a collaborative research and training scheme aimed at occupational and environmental health issues found in a few core science areas, such as biostatistics, epidemiology, environmental science, genetics, systems science, industrial hygiene, behavioral science, toxicology, and implementation science.

With this, the selected applicants of this program will be the one to select the primary occupational and environmental health area of their liking just as long as they ensure that the outcome and end results of their effort will positively impact and address the priority public health needs in their region.

The National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are set to administer a total amount of $1,300,000 to support the program through multiple grant awards.

The institutions and organizations that will be considered eligible to submit an application under the Planning Grants for Hubs of Interdisciplinary Research and Training in Global Environmental and Occupational Health Project are the following:

a) Higher Education Institutions such as Public/State Controlled Institutions of Higher Education and Private Institutions of Higher Education

b) Hispanic-serving Institutions, Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Tribally Controlled Colleges and Universities (TCCUs), Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian Serving Institutions; and

c) State Governments.
