The work of The National Aeronautics and Space Administration is patterned to enable them realize their agency's mission, which is to "pioneer the future in space exploration, scientific discovery and aeronautics research."
In addition to all its existing program, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration has established the Research Opportunities in Space and Earth Sciences (ROSES) 2011 Program in order to support their agency's Science Mission Directorate (SMD).
The program seeks to solicit basic and applied research studies associated with earth sciences and space technology including theories, models, and the analysis of Science Mission Directorate data.
In keeping with the objectives of the Research Opportunities in Space and Earth Sciences Program, NASA has drafted a goal and outcome framework that would serve as the guidelines of the activities that will be included in the program:
a) Further our knowledge in the field of Earth System Science to meet the challenges of climate and environmental
change
b) Thoroughly comprehend the Sun including its interactions with the Earth and the solar system
