The Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, otherwise known as EERE, is an office that is operating within the United States Department of Energy.

The Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy's work is basically involves high-risk, high-value research and development in the fields of energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies.

With that, EERE has developed the Solar Decathlon and Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Showcase Event wherein they intend to promote and encourage the outreach, education and economic benefits of energy security, as well as renewable energy and energy efficiency through the demonstration of various EERE technologies that can be utilized in the community.

In order to make that happen, the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy is soliciting applications that contain the desire and capacity to host the 2013 Solar Decathlon and Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Showcase Event.

First of all, The Department of Solar Decathlon is an educational workforce development program that is geared towards educating university-level students, and at the same time, it also serves as an outreach demonstration that is done in public in order to encourage the people's desire to utilize clean energy technologies and energy efficiency.
