The United States Department of Housing and Urban Development, otherwise known as US HUD, is a Cabinet department in the Executive branch of the US federal government.


HUD's work is focused around the creation of strong, sustainable, inclusive communities and quality affordable homes for all.


In addition, HUD is also constantly working towards bolstering the economy and protecting consumers by improving the country's housing market.

HUD has recently announced a funding opportunity entitled The Sustainable Communities Regional Planning Grant Program.


This program aims to improve regional planning efforts that integrate housing, transportation, economic development, and environmental infrastructure investment decisions, in order to increase the country's capacity to incorporate livability, sustainability and social equity into land use plans and zoning.


The Sustainable Communities Regional Planning Grant Program is also closely coordinated with the Department of Transportation and the US Environmental Protection Agency.
