A PBO is a Performance Based Organization representing an initiative that was created in order to help the government operate more effectively and efficiently. When people call Federal Student Aid a PBO, this means that they are committed to and hold the same standards of the Performance Based Organization.


The whole purpose of Performance Based Organizations is to achieve results and hold the head of the organizations authority responsible if he or she does not produce agreed-upon results.


This result oriented-organization works with the Federal Student Aid in order to manage the programs successfully and efficiently as well as to accomplish goals such as ensuring that the programs safeguard taxpayer’s interests. The performance of FSA is result oriented and strives to supply better-quality service and information to students and their families.


By the FSA performance sector being so goal oriented, working with a Performance Based Organization impacts the Federal Student Aid’s performance in a positive way. By working together collaboratively, students and families are able to experience better customer care with both products and services offered. Overall, the goal and mission of the Federal Student Aid is to please its customers in the most proficient and organized way possible.
